Dr Véronique Desnain (she/her) holds a PhD from the University of Bristol and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. She is the author of Hidden Tragedies: the social construction of gender in Racine (2001) and co-editor of Culture and conflict in seventeenth-century France (2004) as well as journal articles and book chapters on 17th century French drama and French Crime Fiction. She is currently working on the first translation into English of Suchon's Le Célibat Volontaire for Hackett publishing, in collaboration with Dr Derval Conroy.
