Dr M. Angélica Thumala Olave is a Lecturer in Global Sociology at the School of Social and Political Science. She is the Programme Co-Director of the MSc Sociology and Global Change. Angélica is a cultural sociologist whose research interests include:

• Consumption
• The self and identity formation
• Society and culture in Latin America
• Gender and development
• The sociology of reading and books
